Dude that is exactly what i was after, thank you so much. I can modify those to suit other aircraft too which is nice.
Thank you thank you thank you.
Thank you thank you thank you.
You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

For the "shadows" (meaning solid paint coverage, with a band of very thin paint coverage around the edge?)...it's important to either... A. Keep your spray angle the same, throughout (so you don't get the overspray under the curved edge of the putty)....B. Press the edges of the putty down, so that there is NO rounded edge for overspray to creep under.Thomas_M wrote:The white stuff left some visible 'shadows' on some paint jobs. Also it leaves tacky residue on some paint jobs.
I therefore only use the blue variant for masking. No trouble at all so far.
For the tacky residue (have only had the problem with new putty)...I just roll a ball of putty over any residue and/or left over putty that got stuck. Pulls it right up!

What I meant was not tacky residue, but shadows in the paint where the stuff had be placed on.

Ah yes, those! I get that all the time still. I don't really pay them any mind anymore, as the clear coats knock the "shadows" right out.Thomas_M wrote:What I meant was not tacky residue, but shadows in the paint where the stuff had be placed on.

It is frightening to see such shadows when pulling the masks off. Will have to try the "clear cote" trick!

I know John Eaton fairly well for some one never meeting him. He is an artisan of first rate skill no matter what he puts his hands to.wasabi wrote:If you plan to paint a Spitfire, you can just print these templates: http://www.yolo.net/~jeaton/mymodels/sp ... tTemp.html
