Do we need another....?
Re: Do we need another....?
Mmhhh, I think I rather have that one obscure kit. I am still waiting for a Cheyenne, a Marut or a Pander D.

Still waiting for a injection moulded 1/32 Ar 234 jet bomber. Revell, do you listen?

We seem to have the same discussion when it comes to armor,do we need another Tiger or Panther, and the answer is always yes. There is a definite call for more modern subjects and a lot are still missing, but the new Rye Field Tiger has been very well received as have the new Dragon Tunisian Tigers, and the new Tamiya Panther D,so I never complain when another Tiger,Panther,Panzer III,or F-14 or F-18 is released. It's just more choices.

Re: Do we need another....?
Seeing as how I have one of every type of Tiger I built already, I wonder of we need yet another Tiger or Panther in 1/72 scale armor. I'm tired of seeing the same old stuff myself. Yet, I'm not looking for any old obscure vehicle that only I and three other people know about; I'd kill to see an M109 in my scale, or a US Patriot missile system like the 1/35th scale ones that are coming out. What about an M-41 Walker Bulldog, used by so many countries throughout history, or an M-47 Patton? What about a Russian Shilka used in over 20 countries worldwide? Why didn't Airfix scale down their 1/48 scale modern British vehicles into 1/72 scale? Not a peep from any manufacturers over any of these common, well known and historical subjects, yet they can't stop falling all over themselves to release yet another
German paper panzer
that was scribbled out on a napkin somewhere after some German engineer's wet dream of what to build to win the war!
I don't mind a company making money; hey, stay in business as long as possible so I have some new models to work on! It would just be nice if they took some of those profits and invested in some of those other models that I mentioned. I am thrilled with Revell's recent release of the C-54 Skymaster in 1/72 scale, that is something nobody ever thought to see. Still, let's see something unique a little more often.

Another Nutter Butter Peanut Butter cookie, please! Does anyone here know the economics of getting a kit out to production? I don't. I'm sure there are "focus groups", accountants of all sorts and more involved. Molds seem to be pretty massive chunks of metal and someone has to create them. Just curious....what is the break-even point on a kit. Do you have to sell a thousand, two thousand, ten-thousand? Maybe only one of the newer higher priced ones! LOL.....
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
