Cripes A' Mighty Dual Build

Post by BlackSheep214 »

After a year and a half of being shelved, this special dual build is finally done!

First, the famous Cripes A'Mighty P-51 D Mustang flown by George Preddy. He went on to fly two other Cripes A' Mighty Mustangs; Cripes A' Mighty 2nd and Cripes A' Mighty 3rd.

This is the Tamiya kit using aftermarket decals of Preddy's Mustang

Copied from the Two Bobs decal set I had acquired a few years ago:

This jet was painted to commemorate the last ever reunion of the 352nd Fighter Group

Cripes A' Mighty was the famous P-51 that was flown by Maj. George Preddy in WW2. He ended up being the top. Mustang Ace of the war with 26.83 confirmed kills.

Maj. Preddy was killed on Christmas Day, 1944 while chasing a FW-190 at treetop level for his 3rd kill of the day. Ironically, he was hit by friendly ground fire.

The Cripes A' Mighty Viper is devoid of all stencils on this commemorative jet.

I do have decals for a 1/32 Cripes A' Mighty Viper kit if anyone is interested in them.

Nice finish on this pair.

Great work. Both Preddy’s D Mustangs are in my short list to get done.

Very well done, Tom!

Thank you for the kind words, everyone. It feels good to finally get them done.
