Some interesting stuff.
I know it sounds daft given that we all spend our time building war-machines, and things that kill people, but I find the thought of building a Kamikaze aircraft rather unsettling - it just seems a bit 'in poor taste'.

Hold on now…
Let’s put this in perspective logically….. the Japanese were getting demoralized and pissed because their aircrafts are being decimated left and right by 1945. So they turn desperately running suicidal kamakazi missions against US Navy ships and carriers in retaliation. They knew it would end their life in an instant - in fact, honorably in their minds. Same thing with the Japanese Army… they were fanatics in island warfare. They’ll do whatever it takes to defend it. It’s like opening up an ant mound or stirring up a hornets nest. They’ll come out like a swarm.
The thought of building machines “that kill people” goes both ways - Axis and Allies. You forget who struck at Pearl Harbor first. A lot of sailors lives lost. Countless still entombed in sunken WW2 ships today. We were neutral until December 7, 1941. So yeah… everybody is getting killed during WW2; civilians too. Hitler was no different. War is hell…. and it’s all a part of our history.
If the thought of building machines that kill people leaves you unsettled, maybe you shouldn’t build anything related from WW1,WW2, Korea, Vietnam, etc…
Stick with building car kits and Gundam kits instead.

I didn't say I find building war machines unsettling Tom, far from it, I was just pointing out the irony that whilst I'm happy to build models of things that kill people (including nuclear weapons), I find the thought of building a suicide aircraft unsettling - it's daft I know.
I do take your point about them thinking they were having a honourable death though, misguided as that was. They were certainly fanatical.
Oh, and some of us were there in September 1939

No biggie and it's all good. I may have interpreted differently to the comments.

I have to say though that the choice of scheme doesn't alter the fact that the Zero is a cracking looking aircraft.
