Trumpeter 1/35 CH-47D Chinnok

Post by LyleW »

For now, this is a placeholder.....

I have the Huey in progress and the Tarhe waiting.

Well, as I said yesterday, this beast showed up yesterday. There are 250+ parts, it is about 19-20 inches long, longer with the rotors. When I ordered this, I looked for the Quinta set for the interior and nothing came up. I somewhat reluctantly ordered the Eduard PE set fot this kit as well as the Eduard masks. The PE instrument panel and consols look pretty good. About 10 days ago, I looked again and there was a Quinta set showing up. It arrived yesterday. It is so much better than the Eduard set. The trumpeter kit has the clear IP plastic part and a printed film for the instruments. Compared to the Quinta and even the Eduard, it looks pretty childish. The trumpeter also has some PE included as well. When I get to it, it should be a humdinger.

There was some damage to the decal sheet. Not sure how they managed that..Some creasing and a teat on Decal 57. I've asked Trumpeter for a replacement.

Woah!!! Bloody hell Lyle, could you not find anything bigger LOL!! :giggles:

Great subject, I love the Chinook, I see them flying about all the time.

There's a chap I follow on youtube that did a series of builds on this kit - he's not a uber-tuber-modeller, just a regular dude, but I do enjoy his builds and he did a really nice job on this one. His channel's well worth a look.

Here's the first.

edit, does the youtube imbed still not work? Here's the link anyway.

edit (again) okay, so he built the A model, but I assume it's the same base kit?

It works, just enter the video reference, not the full URL e.g. RGDCXHmg974

Thanks,

Stuart, the CH-54 Tarhe I have in 1/35 is a tad bigger! :bag: :whiteflag:

Thanks for the Youtube links. Those are helpful and this guy looks to be a bit more than adequate as a builder.
