Wingnut Wings

Post by Medicman71 »

For those that want a Wingnut Wings kit, get it now! The general manager stated that they're going under and will be closing for good soon.

Not my cup of tea, but it is sad news for those who do buy their kits.

Sad indeed and one of the best companies for WW1 aircrafts out there besides Eduard. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for clearance prices when they get to that point. In a way, I’m not surprised because they are the most expensive kits for 1/32 scale WW1 aircrafts.

I do not know how to even process this news. I wish I had a shit load of money to help them and buy their kits. Often a company will be in trouble and then a catastrophe such as the current pandemic finishes them off. I am hoping their patron (Sir Peter Jackson) will aid them, although he has a huge studio to run. I also read a year ago that Sir Peter and Lady Jackson were in court with a lawsuit against their partner in vintage aircraft restoration. Perhaps between funding Wingnut/WETA Studios, restoring vintage aircraft and Wingnut Wings, he is overstretched financially. Thankfully Copper State Models released their first 1/32 kit a few days ago.

I'm sure someone will pick up the molds and such. Let's hope Eduard does.

I agree. Not too many 1/32 WW1 aircraft subject out there. 1/72 biplanes are too small to my liking and 1/48 scale is small as well compare to any WW2, Cold War, and Modern Jets of same scale.
I hope Eduard pick up their molds as well.

Gentlemen, hold your horses. The sentence that's stated in that post is pulled out of the context. Due to postal restrictions of New Zealand they can't ship their kits and are not allowed to work at office for some time. That's why he mentioned a shutdown and a grim situation. It's the same situation for them as for thousands of other small companies around the world.

Well after reading the very last line from WingNut wings, an announcement will be made in a week or two... :bag:

Yeah, let's hope for the best. Maybe Peter Jackson gives a cash injection to keep them running.
If not, I have a good excuse to get me all of their kits, lol.
Cheers,
