Dragon now? Interesting... Fine Molds did some simply gorgeous stuff, and it seems like Bandai only had it for a hot minute. But now I have heard that the Mouse Empire (who now own Star Wars and all its' associated merchandising) was the main problem for getting the Bandai kits here. Disney is serious when it comes to all their intellectual property. I wonder how Dragon will fare...

Revell brings EasyKits which are thought for kids and not professional builders. Wheres the problem? Stop whining and build them or not. They have enough potential to do something better with them, if you want it this way. Theres plenty of professional builders who recreate those kits - including me (okay, Im definetely NOT a professional ;) ).

30€ for an EasyKit in 1/50 is not cheap, yes - but 35 bucks for a "pro" kit in 1/72 (!!!), now THAT is ridiculous in my eyes. Better this way. The only thing I dont really undrstand is the scale. 1/50 for the X-Wings and 1/65 for the Ties for example.

Dragon has one because they push further on this market - they have some other licenses as well, for example from Marvel (IronMan as an example):

Be happy they are not the old MPC kits us modelers had as our only option back when Star Wars was... Star Wars. Before George started fiddling with his completed films (and Han was the only one who got off a shot in the cantina). I pulled out the few of those kits that I still have in my stash and had a look at them last nite. Definitely late 70s/early 80s vintage and nowhere near cutting edge state of the art from that time.

But seriously folks, Haus of Maus is a short distance up the street from here and as I said in my original post here, they jealously guard and exploit any of their intellectual properties, so be ready to pay top dollar for any new Star Wars kits, no matter who makes them. I can go to Mexico or Vegas for less money than it takes nowadays than it does to go to Disneyland for a day.

Maybe that's the reason why Dragon sold their kits with half the extras for double price lately: they were collecting for the license. :giggles:

Not that China shows much respect for intellectual property laws... :hmm:
