That would be crazy, but I myself would be hesitant after how they botched up the 1/48 Ta-152. The WIPs of that thing look horrible. If you've ever built a long nose Hasegawa Phantom, you'd know ZM and Academy has huge shoes to fill...especially if removable panels and other open hatches aren't your thing.

The F-4EJ airframe is pretty much identical to an F-4E, except for perhaps some antenna variations from those of other F-4Es. So then your only real challenge is markings, and F-4E decals in 1/48 are not exactly hard to come by. If a 1/48 ZM F-4E comes to pass, I think that you will be in good shape.

Japanese EJs are hard wing Phantoms no??? ...I agree but the Hase long noses were made in the mid 80s, and intakes weren't heard of yet in kits. But the detail and fit is superb. Got any pics of that Hasegawa Geasel Jim?

Are there AM intakes?? DMold, XMM, Rhino, True details, Cutting edge...Hopefully my next wip here will be a Weasel using the new awesome Speed Hunter decals.

Yes, the F-4EJ and F-4EJ Kai are both hard winged. The Kai has the slotted stabilators, while the basic EJ does not. Most of the other differences are internal avionics. The other primary external visual difference is the tail RHAW. But a basic EJ or EJ Kai can be used with slight modifications to make a Vietnam F-4E, at least up until the Rivet Haste F-4Es which had the slatted wings and TISEO scope.
