Happy you changed your mind regarding airbrushes! :-)

My first airbrush was a cheap single action airbrush with compressor from Lidl-store. But a very good as first airbrush, then I bought one and two cheap dual-action airbrushes from China. Used them for years, "upgraded" couple of years ago to H&S Evolution. Bought also, as Tom here above a Badger AB from the promotion, which I have not either yet tested.. The Lidl compressor was in use until last Spring, when I bought a second hand compressor a la Sparmax.

Better late than never. I started using my Paasche single action airbrush a few years ago my grandparents got me for my birthday when I turned 17. Now I have 3 ABs.. Neo Iwata from Hobby Lobby and Badger AB from the online promotion earlier this past spring. Haven’t used either yet. Need to get an adapter for the Badger AB and a new hose. Current hose has a kink in the neck attachment.

Ah man you need to get those going!

Yeah I thought it was high time - I'm just not happy with the results I've been getting. That's not to say my first few airbrush jobs won't suck, but you've got to start somewhere.

So this is basically what I have - I skipped the single action and went straight to a double.



I'm going to play with this for a few months and then upgrade a bit. I want a decent little compressor with a tank, gauge and a water trap, and probably an extractor too. I'm working on the dining room table most of the time so I'd like something quiet and portable.





As for what airbrush to upgrade too - the list is limitless...

Armor kits are the perfect place to start. Monotone overall schemes, and simple random two or three color patterns... blotches, dots, stripes...

The airbrush should be fine and will likely serve you well. Excited for you.

Don Wheeler has some good ab tips. You can “google” him. Has a page, I think. Get some cardboard or poster board to practice on and rather than waste paint practicing, ge a bottle of the black India ink.

Congrats Stuart! All of those are great tips. Also, if you have an old model from way back; you could also use it as a paint mule to practice on. That way you can gain experience painting around curved and beveled surfaces that a flat paper can't give you.
