Italeri 1/32 TF-104G

Post by wjkunert »

Kinetic is releasing a 1/48 F-104G, supposedly on 28 June, in Luftwaffe colors. I have one pre ordered from Lucky Model. My main problem is that I would like to do a Royal Netherlands Air Force 104G but finding decals is impossible. Dutch Decals has a et to be released sometime and a set that is sold out.
I finally got my Soesterberg F=4E finished. Turned out pretty good. I'll post a picture of it along with the other 4 32nd FDS/FIS/TFS aircraft one of these days.

Try looking here:

I found the F-16 Cripes A’Mighty commemorative decal set that we’re out of production in the USA. You might have better luck finding hard to find decal set here. Be prepared to pay high shipping charges. It cost me €31 Euro for shipping.

Apparently Dutch Decals is the only company that has done KLu 104's and they don't do big runs. They are coming out in the future with a 1/48 104 set but don't know when the 'future' is. I'e checked everywhere I can think of and they are out of stock. Guess I can do a German bird. They have some nice looking designs.

Well, Dutch Decal does show a future release F-104/F-16/F-86 sheet in the works on their site.
Sheet 48075. So if you’re in no hurry. And I suspect that Kinetic may follow their practice of releasing kits in boxing’s with different markings options. They have done that with their F-16 and E-2 kits.

Aeromaster, Eaglestrike, and Armycast have all done F-104 decal sets that offer Dutch markings.

The first release of the Kinetic kit includes a German Navy 104. I'd love to build that!

Hopefully they include the underwing tanks in addition to the tip tanks. And for the Marinefileger a pair of Kormorant missiles... :ballbat:

The illustration on the kit box shows tip tanks plus 2 under wing tanks and a couple of sidewinders on the fuselage. Still haven't located any KLu decals for the 104. I emailed Dutch Decals about their upcoming offering but didn't receive a reply.

Thanks Stik. I emailed the seller about the white dots all over the roundels and the 2 missing decals. I'll wait and see what he says.
