Walmart now selling models?

Post by BlackSheep214 »

Yup... I was surprised myself. Went grocery shopping this past Thursday night and saw an aisle display. $24.95 for amt auto kits, a couple Weird-Os kits ($6.98) a few aircraft and ship kits (not sure the kit brand) and some Star Trek kits.

They did sell kits in the stores in the past. I do recall they used to carry the 21st Century Toys 1/32 aircraft kits in both the pre built/ pre painted and unbuilt boxings. And I know that I have seen them selling kits online for a while now via Amazon. It’s nice to hear that they have kits in stores again.

The 21st Century Toys kits were ok. Their shape was good, but the panel lines were heavy. They have some funky assembly methods. The cost of the unbuilt kits was around $10, and the decal sheets alone were worth half again that much- the decals were really nice! Unfortunately when the company was going out of business, their cost skyrocketed. I picked up their A6M3 Zero. Haven’t built it yet.

Built three out of the five they had...the 109, Stuka, and Corsair...I agree- great decals. The Macchi and Zero didn't appeal much to me at the time.

I can kick myself for not picking up the Macchi. Good looking lines and those killer Italian desert camo schemes.

No kits at mine. I built the 21st Century Corsair years ago.

Went to Walmart this morning and I didn't see any kits. Where exactly were they?
