Pass in Review- 2018 Builds

Post by Stikpusher »

Yeah, I know this is a few weeks past the New Years. But I was holding off on taking some final photos and I’ve been more busy building lately. So here are my completions of 2018.

Image

Academy clone of the old Fujimi Mirage IIIIR. It says 1/48, but is actually 1/50. I added cockpit and engine detail, and a Doppler radar bulge to change this to a Mirage III RD

Image

Monogram 1/48 Hurricane II B built the old fashioned way and hand brush painted as a ceiling hangar for my great nephew.

Image

Tamiya 1/35 T-55, built for AMPS chapter GB for IPMS Nationals. Backdated to earlier model

Image

AMT 1/48 P-40F

Image

Tamiya 1/35 Leopard 1A4, missing features on kit added to improve accuracy

Image

Dragon 1/72 Challenger 2 w/dozer blade MBT, built for AMPS 1/72 GB.

I did double last year’s completion output from 3 to 6. But I completed zero rollovers from previous years . All were new starts from 2018. This year I aim to finish up more rollovers, and hopefully finish more than 6 while doing so....

Thanks for looking.

outstanding! I did think this was for 2019, though.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Borg, I am happy to have a completion rate of every other month this year. But as long as your finishing something each year, you should be happy!

Your class of 2018 a very nice collection of its own. Though I had at least 50 hours of bench time last year, I didn't manage to finish anything. But that means the bets for 2019 are much better.
Cheers,

Awesome builds! Although, I don’t remember the Mirage build. Must’ve missed that one altogether. :bag:

Yes—three cheers to an outstanding series of aircraft and armor projects, Carlos. I add my voice to the chorus of approval for what was a very productive year for you. I am glad you provided this snapshot of your past year. This makes each project stand out both as an individual achievement and as part of your personal growth as an artist. I really find “Grim Rip” to be an amazing project—with such care given to an old kit your talent transforms the qualities in a superb way. Everything simply works as intended—the colors, weathering and construction are all finely judged from careful study and careful execution. For me, this particular aircraft model is quintessential Carlos—unique subject plus old kit plus great execution equals a stunning model. I don’t mean to give short shrift to your armor—your work there is uniformly excellent as well. I just... dig that one aircraft so much. You definitely captured my interest both intellectually and emotionally. You brought her to life. Bravo!

That is an amazing lineup of outstanding models Carlos! Way to go man, and congrats on finishing twice the number from the previous year.
