Monogram 1/32 F-51D Black Sprue Part ID : Help Needed.

Post by speedgraflex »

Evenin’ All.

Sweatin’ bullets trying to ID the parts on Monogram Mustang sprues so I can buy a white box version with some confidence off eBay. The sellers sell “As-Is” without inventories so I am trying to gain knowledge of what may be all parts based on studying very low quality pictures...... so I decided to draw sprues and number the parts hoping for an assist from the Spam aces.

Black Sprue

1- interior side panel?
2- oxygen supply?
3- gunsight?
4- unknown
5- instrument panel?
6- interior side panel?
7- seat
8- radiator
9- throttle?
10- propeller assembly
11- gun cover?
12- gun cover?
13, 14, 15, 16- tires
17- unknown edit- battery+radio rack above the fuel tank
18- unknown
19- wing spar?

What about this, instruction sheets to Monograms "transparent" 1/32 P-51D
I think most if not all parts are same ?

And when comparing your (stylish!!) drawing with the pieces her below, I think the match is pretty perfect, at least for the most of the parts.. No ?

And here the enitre PDF file on Scalemates pages where I found it:

That’s beautiful, Kari! Thank you so much! What stopped me from using the Phantom kit was a build I saw online where the fella laid out the sprues—

—way more parts; yellow and red sprues—however you are absolutely right that the Action Model shares its parts directly from the Phantom!!

Phantom sprue layout (different from the Action model sprue layout which is simpler)

Apologies—looks like the sprue I thought was yellow on my iphone is actually green (of course it is, the ZCG).

Thanks again, Kari! Incredibly helpful and useful response!!!!!! Cheers and when do we start building ponies?????????
