CATatstrophe

Post by Stikpusher »

Yesterday, (actually the day before yesterday now) January 28th, a date which will live in infamy. (Not really in the grand scheme of things, but...)

My models were massacred as they sat resting on a peaceful Sunday morning by a marauding cat who managed to knock down some boxes of sidelined projects onto the display area below. The results now look like Wheeler or Hickam Fields... some can be salvaged, some can be repaired, some are damaged to beyond the point where repair can be done in a scope of effort less than replacement...

The damages...

And the suspect of this heinous act.... al Qitty agent Asmara al Mariki, AKA Mako... who has just used up one of her nine lives

I will post updates as salvage operations commence...

Carlos,

What a tough break. I am so sorry to learn that some of your completed projects were destroyed alongside your work in progress and your inventory. I know you will be able to repair as much as possible, to get your inventory back in good condition once more. I don’t really have the kind of inventory you do, but I am able to empathize—if any of my models were dropped or fell or had objects drop on them, smashing and breaking delicate pieces, I know how I would feel—because beyond the physical damage there is lost time and experience. It’s tough to put things in perspective when an accident happens, but I know you, you have one of the greatest positive attitudes and your natural status is one of can do: I know you can get these models back in good condition again. I have no doubts at all.

Not a pretty sight to wake up to. Hoping you're able to salvage whatever can be saved. Now to do something about that darn cat from doing it again......

Don't get me wrong, I own both a cat (Blue point Ragdoll) and a dog (King Charles Cavalier), and the cat goes where she wants no matter what. She basically has the run of the whole house and cellar; the dog - the main floor. LOL!

Thanks guys.
Yes, I’ll save what I can, salvage what can be, and replace those that are best replaced. That will start in a few days on my time off.

As far as the cat goes, I need to have a talk with my kids about keeping that critter out of the garage, which is where this occurred. Just in a few more days when the anger has subsided and I can speak logically and not emotionally. She has several bad habits that my oldest allowed her to develop before they moved in.

Uh oh! Do we need to burn incense to ward off this effect? What precisely are the “Days?” Is that why the shelf is called “Doom,” Torben?

Dancing three times around your spare box of styrene parts, mumbling "we shall not break, we are bound by the infinite power of Tamiya Extra Thin", while balancing a freshly painted model on the tip of your nose.

THIS is how you keep away Asmara al Mariki, the dark lord of destruction!
