Glue...

Hi all,

I happened to find these two "rarities" in a small box that was in a slightly bigger box that again was in a bigger box with all kind stuff... Mostly stuff that is saved, just because if ever needed etc....



Not really sure how old these two tubes are, I would say 15-20 years or more ?

Still "good to go" and the smell of the glue really takes me back 35 years or so !
A nostalgy trip so to say! :-)

The one below is a Finnish version of Humbrol glue, "Muoviliima" is Finnish, and literally means Plastic glue. Good translation for once ! :-)

Your post reminds me that my buddy Bryan wants to do some vintage builds completely with tube glue, and I was kind of wondering if there is still a reason to use this kind of glue at all any more—but it is potent what you wrote about how a certain smell will act as a time travel "call" to a certain time and place for our memories. I would say that being connected to your past was the real glue, Kari!

Nice to see these. I also have a tube of Pactra glue that is still good. I always liked those tiny tubes they included in some kits; sometimes that glue worked better than the Testor's at times!

Bruce I still do use Testor's orange tube glue on my builds. It is great for many of the larger assemblies where a lot of glue is needed over long seams on a large multi-engined aircraft fuselage for instance. I also use it on many of my aircraft carrier models to cement the flight deck down to the hull. I'll even use it to fasten the upper hull of my armor models to the lower hulls. So yeah, I still use it. I like the slower set time and ability to adjust placement as well. I also tend to stun many people who watch me as I apply it directly from the tube instead of squeezing it out and applying with a toothpick or something similar.

The next one is Friday February 9th and Saturday February 10th. Then there is the one on Friday March 9th and Saturday March 10th. The one to truly make if you can is the Friday March 9th; I'll be cooking steaks for dinner for everyone!
