Opinion on DNModels and Galaxy Meng F 35 masks
I'm working on my second Meng F 35 as I wasn't satisfied with some of my work on the first one. I masked the first with Galaxy masks which are made of the same material as Tamiya masking tape, The DNMosdels masks are of a translucent plastic which are pretty easy to apply. The Galaxy set includes everything you could mask, the DN set lacks a few. The 4 dark areas on each side of the lower vertical fins is not included in the DN set nor are maskes included for the 4 small doors adjacent to the weapons bays. Galaxy includes masks for the exhaust petals, DN does not. Galaxy includes canopy and wheel masks, DN has them as an extra stand alone set. I have not started the fuselage yet so I can't say for sure if there are any short comings there. Having used both I cannot conclude that the DN masks are worth twice the price of the Galaxy masks.

Good to know. Thank you for sharing your observations with us. I've ordered the Galaxy masks after you mentioned them in a post a few weeks ago. They were astoundingly cheap, especially when compared to brands like Eduard.

The only thing I have noticed thus far that DN includes that Galaxy doesn't is a mask for the area of ram inboard on the front of the upper wing. Looking at pictures of real F 35A's I've never seen one with that area painted. I think you will be happy with your Galaxy masks. I would also take a look at Mission Models paints ( www.missionmodels.com ). They have a nice Have Glass Grey (FS36170) and Light Ghost Grey(FS36375) and
are working out really well for me. If you get MM paints also get their Poy Intermix. It slightly extends drying time plus gives a nice eggshell finish that will take decals without applying clear first. They also have some new clear coat in flat, semi gloss and gloss. I ordered the semi and gloss. I do not have an airbrush and these paints brush without leaving any marks. Mission Models assures me the clear coats can also be brushed. So far I really like their products.

Do you know if Galaxy makes masks for the Kitty Hawk kit?

I believe I saw somewhere that Wolfpack Decals makes a set of decals for the rem areas on Kitty Hawks F 35 that is used instead of paint.
I searched and found this - http://millcreekconsultants.com/WP48-1.html - They are $8.50.
