Soesterberg F 102A and F 15

Post by wjkunert »

Image

this is a picture of the 32nd FIS F 102A and 32nd TFS F 15 I just completed. This is a new picture hosting site so I hope it works OK. I'll post more pictures in the gallery. Here is a history of 102A 56-1043. Kind a sad ending for an aircraft that had my fingerprint all over it.

F-102A-55-CO s/n 56-1043 *USAF 498th FIS.
*1959: 86th FIS.
*1960-63: USAF 32nd FIS.
*1964-66: USAF 525th FIS.
*1966: USAF 526th FIS.
*North Dakota ANG 178th FIS.
*1974: Texas ANG 111th FITS.
*8/1974: Put into storage at the AMARC bone yard.
*8/1979: Converted to PQM-102B as "753".
*7/23/1980: Shot down over the White Sands Test Range in a missile test flight from Holloman AFB, NM.

Very nice! I'm kinda partial to German based USAFE Cold War birds myself... but those look great. And from a not commonly modeled unit.

I lived next to Soesterberg in the 90's and saw those F-15's very often. Still miss the sound of that.
Nice to see some Wolfhounds modelled.
