Maybe that is why the dissapointment about the 109 G-6 is so big, most of the Eduard kits are good and they have just been getting better with each new release. The pinnacle of this has been the Spitfire, so the hopes where extremely high for the 109. Coupled to the hype they made witrh their pre-release marketing the gap between the expectation and the actual product was to big.
If it where a Hobby Boss or Trumpeter kit a lot of modellers whould have shrugged their shoulders and say "what else do you expect". But Eduard is different from those companies. Its like Real Madrid of Manchester United, the bare minimum for those clubs is to become league champion. If that is not achieved it is a failed season. Some goes for Eduard, we come to expects that every new release is better, becoming the new "definiteve kit". And they delivered often. Dropping the ball on this one is double the dissapointment.

I have enough 1/48 109s in my stash, Airfiz to Zvezda, to not worry about this kit. Now, if I happen to find a "weekend edition" boxing for a good price I will snap it up and build it OOB. Eventually.... If you think Eduards reply is bad on this, you need to take a look at Dragon's website and their "Mighty Dragon Fanclub" and their mouthpiece...
As far as reviews go, I like Terry Ashley's style over on PMMS. He is a rivet counter for sure, but he usually leaves out the dramatics and lordly final pronunciations of "unbuildable", "Fraud of a Kit" etc... Tell me the buyer/builder what the problems are, and let me decide if I will spend my hard earned cash on this kit.

Well that's good to know. I did noticed Eduard is pulling out the stops for a special D-Day Spitfire kit. Looks to me it's the same kit but using different box art. I do like the fact it came with at least 5 or 6 decal choices though.

The D-Day boxing has different markings than the standard boxing. Otherwise it's the same plastic. It does feature a resin 500 lbs bomb.

I have to agree that they fumbled with this release...and a BIG fumble it was. Eduard really had the chance to mingle with the "BIG-BOYS" of injection-molding manufacturers with this release, coming right on the heels of their nearly-flawless Spitfire. Hopes were high. Yet they have now admitted that there are several issues that they are owning up to, although they are still fighting critics tooth-and-nail while confessing to their BIG SINS...

I have to confess, myself, that I am a BIG Eduard Groupie, especially in regards to their PE and BRASSIN updates. I am also a BIG fan of their 110 series of kits, especially in 1/72nd scale and also their new MiG 15...All of this has made the release of their 109G-6 all the more of a let-down. I fully expected the kit to become the pinnacle of the 109G in 1/48th scale. Now I realize Zvezda still has a shot at that title. And the Hasegawa 109G-6 is still relevant. The scale issues, especially with the wings, are fact and without debate (Eduard has admitted as much). So is that odd bump on the wing-root fairing (true, it can be sanded off, so no biggie there), but what really set me off was the lack-of-rake in the landing gear oleos...something that most of the worst Eduard critics have yet to make too much a fuss about. That killed it for me. I could have lived with the scale issue but having to do surgery in the gear sealed the NO-DEAL for me...Did Eduard send in the JR Varsity for this kit? Were the Spitfire engineers still celebrating their release and on vacation? Talk about a real missed opportunity for Eduard...

And now, I notice that Eduard is releasing bronze replacement oleos for the 109 for about $25...I asked them on their FB-site if the angle on these were corrected---no response. So I assume then they ARE NOT corrected.

Shame on you Eduard---I WAS your biggest GROUPIE...

...how ironic is it for what started as an aftermarket company to need an aftermarket company to save one of their kits...???

I'm with you Manny. I can live with the minor stuff but not the gear leg issue......just unacceptable. I'll pass on this one as well. As I said before, I would rather they concentrate on giving us subjects that are truly needed, like a "stare of the art" P-40 B and/or the F/L Merlin versions. I'll keep saying this until they listen

Just curious, how is Zveda better than the Hasegawa version? I may have to check that one out.
