I like "What-Ifs". Here's one I have on the bench right now. It's the 1/48 F-20 fuselage, Rafale M wings, F-14A Tomcat tails (not shown). Thinking of adding canards as well. Using F-16 landing gear as well. I've got lots of weapons and pods to hang too.

That sounds like one funky design once you get it all assembled.

Everything but the F-20 came from the spares box. Kit bashing big time.

Spare Rafale wings? You must have one serious spares bin!

The Rafale wings were from the Hobby Boss Rafale that I melted the nose on (Squadron Putty in an enclosed space will do that).

Yeah I tried squadron putty to secure some nose weight on my 1/32 Revell Tornado to learn that lesson...

I also like looking at 'What-if's when done by others, I don't do them in aircraft myself. Strangely enough, I've only done one 'what-if' and it was a ship. I modified and modernized an old Tirpitz battleship; even adding a helicopter deck with an SH-3 Sea King on the back! I only have one other idea for a maritime 'what-if': the German aircraft carrier Graf Zeppelin done up as a Soviet carrier with an angle deck, Soviet carrier-style bridge and Yak 36's on board. Maybe someday....
While trying to collect some information, ideas etc regarding my fleamarket "findings", I found this old thread..
Duke, you don't happen to have a picture of that "what-if" Tirpitz ? Not that I would perhaps build such a What-if, but I am really curious to see yours. If you still have it ?
