Is it me or is it getting harder to find lead fishing weights? Couldn't find any at Walmart the other day.

I think the tree huggers finally caught up with them. I found a box of split shot with a warning that it "contains" lead. I think that is why they don't perform as well for this use. I may stop by the Tar store and see if they have any weights.Medicman71 wrote:Is it me or is it getting harder to find lead fishing weights? Couldn't find any at Walmart the other day.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I've had the same trouble trying to find Tungsten.
I know of the online places to get it,,,,,but, geez, wouldn't shipping by package weight be a bear?
I checked at gun sections of chain stores and some reloaders,,,,,,even a gunsmith that we are friends with says "I can order it, but, I'd have to pay shipping".
I've thought of using copper instead, but, I'm wanting to go denser than lead, not lighter.

Yes, you can buy it in the States, for reloading.
They sell the molds, and books talking about the difference in the casting techniques for the bullets, compared to plain lead and copper jackets.
