In an effort to do some less detail intense, basic model building, I've decided to have a go at the "ignorance is bliss" method.

I've just ordered the Special Hobby 1/32 Fiat G50bis with the CMK weighted wheels. I know nothing of the Regia Aeronautica, except they fielded some interesting aircraft and did quite well with what they had.

My plan is to build it per the kit instructions. Almost entirely OOB, with the weighted wheels being the exception. I figure trying to decide on, then replicate which of the brain numbing paint schemes will be crazy enough, without adding accuracy and details into the mix!

Besides, I have a penchant for the odd and unusual, so this will fit nicely!

Anyone else ever do this?

Yeah, I just did that on my Schnellboot. I like doing an unknown (to me) subject every now and then for just that reason. The OCD & AMS kick in too often and slow down so many projects of mine... :/

I have as well. I bought a Lindburg Grumman Goose and built it OOB other than some decals from the spares box.

I picked up Tamiyas 1/48 D.520 for $10....and only because it was $10. I have no interest in the a/c itself...the only interest was a nice Tamiya kit for $10! During the build, I did no research...just built it. When it came time to finish it, I did search for scheme options and ended up with a German "captured" scheme with a few decals from the spares box.

Not really, but I do like to build SOB sometimes.

That is what I love about this hobby. I will probably never be comfortable buying a PE or AM set, just because I can't use them very well. Too ham handed! If it comes with the purchase, fine. I'll give it a try. I'm so old school, I still walk up hill both ways, barefoot in the snow! And I'm glad for it, too! You whipper-snapper. So, almost all of what I attempt is out of the box. And that is tough enough. Perhaps as I get more things done, my confidence and skill will improve.

I am utterly fascinated at your (collectively) work that is shown here. Amazing.
