I disagree somewhat. I think there are only about sixJimD wrote:It's not the lack of traffic. It's the lack of posting. Fly by posts here and there all day by most of the regular members, but few comments on builds and such. My thread view count will go up 25-40 in a half a day and zero posts...Manny1943 wrote: With the lack of traffic in here it often feels like this place is closing up

More than six, but we need more members. We have around 150 on roll, but only about 1/3 or so participate and less than that with regularity. I don't know why, does anyone? Facebook site are consuming a lot of energy these days with many, many dedicated to model building. I know the staff would appreciate ideas.
I think that some of the lack of traffic is everyone that does participate knows the work and capabilities of the others.

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

You know a lot of us have to work for a living Jim. I try and comment even when at work. But when I'm at work I may have looked at a thread and not been able to comment because of calls.

I do not know where I fall in... The hardcore 6? The regular gang of 12? No matter.... some threads that interest me I peek in upon. Others I do not. Sometimes I leave a comment, sometimes I do no not. As for Jim's F-14 thread, no I have not yet looked. So obviously no comments can be left by me.
I have tried recruiting new members. A few have joined. Some just look and pass, and some like Duke/Mark have become a major contribution here.
As far as the original question goes, since I first joined this place after SPR crashed and this was formed, I've probably built 20 or so kits. Perhaps a few more in those years between this site and the original.

On topic....
Long story short...I was in a real bad place, in Jan 2009. Having finished (ie...spent $40K) everything I need to do for a pilot gig...300+ resumes...no luck finding a job of any sort, even McD's told me to get bent!...visits to the food bank...eating only 1 meal a day (venison, that I killed and butchered myself)...I NEEDED something else to focus on. I hadn't built any models since 2006...and that was only 1...3 in 2005. Anyway, I didn't have money for booze, or anything for that matter...but I had a stash of about 25-30 kits. I went to FSM's site, just to get some inspiration..."forum"...what's a forum?...click...signed up and the rest is history! I'm addicted!
The forums have made me a way better builder...not so much in the "tips and tricks" dept...but more-so from the "atta boys". I knew my builds were flawed and not so great...but still, I'd get the "WOW", "Great job", blah, blah, blah. I was like "This build doesn't really deserve all that", but I'm going to take my time and push my limits, so that I do deserve the compliments, some day!
Anyway, since starting back up again...

Work till the end of November...a week off the beginning of Dec...going to Germany (Nuremburg) for a week and a half. So, basically, I've only got 3 weeks of "free time" before New Years. I don't think I can make it happen.
