1:48 Mitsubishi A5M-4K

Post by Cherrylock »

Some of you wished more japanese aircrafts, some wished more trainers, here is both, a jap. trainer, the Classic Airframe A5M4-K, painted in trainer orange. The kit bases on the fighter variant, there are some different parts but you have to skratch build some parts (discriped in the instructions).

Great camouflage when flying over an orange plantation.

A good looking combination of colors. And a proper executed model, of course.
Cheers,

Viewing your build conjures up my memory of seeing an article in Scale Modeler- many decades ago  -detailing the conversion of a Monogram A6M5 into a two seat trainer.

Checking the review on Internet Modeler
http://www.internetmodeler.com/2000/may ... claude.htm

the comment is made that the kit contains wheel spats should the builder wish to add them to the model.
Does the kit specify if the spats must be left off the orange version or is that up to the builder?

Also, please mention the brand of paint used.

I can't help thinking of the rail road colour Floquil Orange but I wonder if that line of paints is even available in Germany.

That's certainly different - it looks great, I love the colour!

the instruction say, most spats are removed for trainer, so it is up to the modeler more or less.

The orange looks on picture like dayglow, but it is Revell Gloss Orange with a little bit yellow, it is like all jap. tainer orange.

it take some time but the fighter is now build.
The real aercraft were build in natural metal, must were protected with a transparent coat, the transparent changed during sun and sea to a light golden color, that is was I tryed to paint..

That's an interesting scheme. I like it.
