Need new organization..

Post by BlackSheep214 »

I really need to reorganize my bench. Too much clutter and in need to find stuff better. I need to have dedicated spots on my hutch for certain stuff easy at reach. I need to find something else for other stuff. All my paints are in plastic totes - by brand and type (acrylics and enamels) :bag: :headbang:

I would suggest HobbyZone organizers.

Yeah... I've been looking at those. Kinda pricy for me now. I've got a Jack & Jill shower and 2 nieces weddings this year.
Not to mention my sons college graduation in May and a Bermuda cruise 2 weeks later in May - son's grad gift from us.

For whatever reason, your photos didn’t pop up the first time I checked your post. The wooden box in the first photo which is to the left of your desk is a phenomenal piece. I bought two large wooden craft boxes off of Amazon that were unfinished to hold my supplies. With limited shelf space I needed a neat way to keep supplies at hand without having to see them. I don’t have nearly as much paint as you do but I seem to collect all kinds of small tools. That was my solution.

There’s a one day build with Adam Savage using foam core to make a shelf organizer which I find inspiring. Sometimes a simple and cheap solution although not necessarily a fast one can really help get things done.

That wooden box belonged to my grandfather. The only thing I replaced is the lock on the front cover plate. The original key either got lost or broken. Yes, it still serves my purpose in storing various clips, sanding sticks, 2 dual action airbrushes - Iwata (green box) and Badger Sotar which I have yet used. I have used the Iwata once; micro drill bits, Xacto blades, etc…

The large wooden cabinet on the right I grabbed from work and used to store my spray cans.

My main focus is underneath my hutch on the bench. I need to figure out how to keep it neat. Even the cubby holes on the hutch is a messy chaos. :giggles:

That is a great story, Tom. That piece has history! I also saw a container on that side of the room with square bottle Testors paints inside. Bravo!
