Henschel 126

Post by VanceCrozier »

So before I dig into my pile of Bf109s, or new Airfix kits I found under the tree, I had to go somewhere different for a bit. So I present to you ....

Raised panel lines but well done. Fabric texture on the control surfaces. Engine looks decent, thinking about leaving a cowling panel open but need to look at where the panel lines actually are. Should be a fairly quick build. I'll need to scratch up some harnesses, I'd like to replace the instrument panel as well. May be a need for some wiring bundles & other bits to be added inside the cockpit/gunner's seat area.

Found a good diagram of the Henschel's instrument panel. Reduced it, printed a batch at sizes close to the kit-supplied panel. Matched up the closest version, attached it to a scrap of sheet styrene with some CA, started finger-turning my smallest drill bits. Got one hole a little too close to another, kinda pushes into it, but once it's all painted up I think it'll go un-noticed.

Paper all scraped/sanded off now, just need to add a few levers & paint...

Weekend was largely thwarted, I know not how. I suspect that being storm-bound would've been much more productive if the females had been elsewhere. So, here's where I am now on the cockpit:

Can you fly this plane and land it? Surely you can't be serious? I am serious, and don't call me Shirley
