Space 1999: Eagle Transporter

Post by KSaarni »

Hi all,

since I first time saw this TV series ( back in 1976 ) I immediately fell in love in Eagle transporter. And have been in love since that..
Now close to 40 years later I was thinking if I would finally buy this Eagle.. MPC (never heard of it) has released a new "edition" in 2013.

Has anyone built this kit (or the predecessors) ? Any comments, thoughts, pictures etc etc...

This is the re-edition of a 1974 Airfix kit. A list with all Space:1999 related kits you can find here.

I've found one built model on a German forum:

I built one! It is a fun little kit to build. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This model holds a special pace for me because when I was a kid, I was supposed to go to bed at 8:30PM. On Fridays, Space 1999 came on at 10:00PM. My other loved this show and so do I and that was the only night that my mother let me stay up late. We would sit and watch the show together. What wonderful memories.

MPC is nothing new. I used to tons of car kits from MPC. I do remember that kit years ago in my youth. Never done one but always wanted to do one. Nice score.

Thanks Mostrich, good stuff, luckily Google translator exists! :-)

Indeed Duke, I have also just good colorful memories of the series, even if we only had a B/W TV at those times.. But there was some collectors cards along wiht chewing gum where one could see the colours of for example the space suits... That were orange, something I could not understand when I was a kid.. of all colours in the earth, why orange!! :-)

Thanks & indeed, Wikipedia rules! I think MPC made/makes more car models than other types, something I don't really have a clue about..
