A lucky find?

Post by Stikpusher »

Between Christmas and New Years my wife helped a family friend move (I was at work during this adventure)....
Anyways they had much excess including some property from deceased parents. My wife spied this airbrush and compressor that was going to be thrown out and brought it to me... it's not the best, but 1: the compressor is a step up from my 26 year old current beast (no moisture trap, pressure regulator, or on/off switch) and 2, the airbrush is a double action. It's a Master Brand, made in China and from my online websearch pretty inexpensive and not top quality. But I am hoping that it is a good one to learn with as I have been eyeballing some double action types at Hobby Lobby that are affordable with their 40% off coupon...

so here is my free trash salvage...

The airbrush obviously needs a good cleaning, but otherwise I am looking forward to trying this thing out...

my thoughts exactly... worst case, even if everything craps out, I am not out one dime....

BTW, I spent about an hour this evening cleaning up the airbrush... it was FILTHY!!!! My guess is that the previous owner died before cleaning it after use... with some nasty craft paints...

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

mine purrs like a kitten....or at least its quieter than the dryer!

It doesnt hold much air, so It has to be running while you paint. Let it cool off afterwards too, because it can get warm. I like it.
