Just used some montex masks for my 190-d9, and theyre awesome.
I saw alot of banter about the quality of the canopy masks online, but i never saw any of the issues people claimed they had. They went down well, there were a few ridges where the vinyl bent and joined, but they did exactly as advertised, they masked the area from receiving paint, and they did it well. No residue, no overspray.
The marking masks worked the same way, thinner material was used, and clear(smoke tint?) instead of black. They lay down nicely and came up nicely leaving sharp lines that blended nicely into the rest of the paintwork. I had a few issues, but i think it was because i lifted them too early while the paint was a bit tacky so i got burrs in some places.
Overall ive so far had a very nice experience with them. The only issue i have is theres no real instructions in the pack, so i get a sheet with 4 different canopy masks on it and no indication of how theyre to be used, so i guessed. (Turns out theres a mask for interior and exterior for both the galland and regular canopies)

Another note is the set i got was specifically for the kit i had (Tamiya) and they fit perfectly.

montex do them for heaps of kits. Hannants alone have somewhere around 600 listed in 48 scale.

A couple tips for ya....
More paint on canopy frames!!! It took me quite some time to get enough on my canopies. I used to do just one layer of finish paint, no primer. Nowadays, after masking, I'll do a couple thin layers of the interior frame color...when I do the pre-shade, I start and finish with the frames, with another layer in between. Several light coats again with the finish color.
The little ridges/burrs in the paint, from the masking, can be rubbed right down. If you remove the masks fairly quickly after you've painted, just as the paint is dry to the touch, you can rub your finger back and forth over it, to smooth out those edges....just don't do it too soon!!!

I learned a neat trick when it come to painting inside framework of canopies. Inside frames of canopies are usually the same color of the cockpit right? Paint the framework of cockpit first, then paint over it to match exterior color.

Thanks for the tips guys. I didnt notice my canopy was short on paint until i took these photos and looked at them. I thought it odd since ive got black primer underneath then a fairly heavy coat of top colour. The montex masks come with both interior and exterior masks, so i could go back and repaint the interior if i wanted, or i could reuse the masks and put a heavier coat on the outside. Im thinking i might do the interior though since at the moment its just black, which looks a little odd.

The whole reason i got these masks is the aircraft i wanted to do had a spiral on the spinner, and it scared me, so i went looking for a mask for just that.

This thread reminds me to check for some masks for a 1/32 scale Ta 152H...
