Rather than buy a 9.00 USD bottle of Alclad gold tinted clear for the F-117A canopy - are there any "home brew" solutions? A few drops of Model Master gold acrylic in some Future?

Thanks, Jim. Just getting ready to do that. Mixed up a little bit to see what it would do on some scrap. It did tint it, but it was grainy from the glitter. Thought I'd pounce on the 117 from the Testors combo kit. So far, pretty good, but only about 30 parts!

Okay, metal flake. Geez........Have another for me, fermis.....You do any contract work? I have a 1/72 F-117 canopy that needs to be painted! I've gotten a good coat of Future on it, so I can re-do when needed. The canopy frames are almost flush..and trying figure out a way to cut, mask, paint or hammer the outline has me stumped at the moment. I've put some paint on it to see if the toothpick scraping method works.

it has been one of those days. I managed to kill all 12 of our fish in the aquarium. We had a leak and in moving them around to another aquarium and all, we figure that it was too much stress. Most of them we have had since May - a record.

I tried some highly thinned gold paint and the results were terrible. I am still trying to clean up the parts afterwards.

I did try the "suck off only the liquid, no pigment" method mentioned in Swanny's site's link. I had it so thinned out you can't tell it at all.

As for the canopy paint? The toothpick method looks promising.

you also can use inks to tint future. I've used bubble printer inks for this with success. But for a golden "film" to look through I would test a yellow-orange lucid coat from the inside and then a super fine coat of sivler also from the inside. But not sure if that will work cause the silver probably will take out a lot of the transparency.
