Got the side braces cut down 3 inches. Shelf unit is finally up. All is left is to get 8. 11"x35" inch boards cut, boards for the sides and some sort of plexiglass sheet for the front to keep the damn cat out of it.

A squirt bottle or airsoft pistol works on deterring cats quite well

Riiiiiight…. :bored: You don’t know my cat. She’s the princess of the house - hence her name is Leia. She tends to spend her nights in the cellar because it’s cooler than upstairs. Wintertime she’s either upstairs or in the cellar.

It’s called negative reinforcement training. It works. Of course cats hold grudges and will get revenge when they feel so inclined…

Found some free lumber at work since they’re not being used. Three of them are already cut to fit in the shelves. Found a couple long boards I can cut to 11”x35” boards. Enough for me to make 4 boards for the shelves. This left me one short. Luckily, I found another already cut to fit the shelf.

I do have a large sheet of paneling board I’ll cut to size for the sides. Shouldn’t be hard to do.

I’ve already filled in the top 2 shelves with my built kits. Tomorrow, I’ll cut my boards to size for my shelvings.

Once that’s finished, I need to find some plexiglass for the front. :hmm:

Cats have long memories. "we've " had seveal cats. Pretty neat and loving critters for the most part. Had to take one out when it attacked my wife and then me. Caught it in mid-air with a broom. Vet said it likely had some sort of brain virus or such. Did not check and she was put down. Prior to that a great cat. The last one we had was our daughter's and was my buddy. It would come when called and snuggle up. She did move to an apartment and a once when moving, would not let Kimmie put her in the crate to leave. I did it and the cat never forgot and from that point on, would not come to me nor have anything to do with me.

I've had 2 prior to my current one. The first was a female tortillas Persian. She was the runt of the litter... very affectionate. Had to put her down when x-rays found her chest cavity was filled with liquid.

Next we got our first Ragdoll; named her Chloe. She was a blue point Ragdoll. Would not sit or lay on your lap but will sit/lay near you. Had a stroke and had to put her down. She was my Queen Chloe. Affectionate too.

Leia is the same as Chloe... won't sit/lay on your laps but will near you.

We have a 9 yr old grey tabby / calico mix. Very cool cat. Can be vocal and has a strange habit of sitting with me for a few minutes and leaving. She’ll repeat that 5 or 6 time an hour. Fine with me, I can only take an animal on me for a few minutes unlike my wife who refuses to disturb the pets and won’t even move. lol. The cat has been good about completed builds on the shelf but may play with parts on the bench and toss them on the floor for the dog to choke on.
