I don't know how you improve upon Tamiya's recent A6M5, but apparently Fine Molds is bent on doing so. Can you believe we have come so far that we can now try and mold the canopy framing and clear sections separately in this scale? :wow:

:hmm: That’s some serious engineering there to assemble the canopy in such a manner. Separate framing from the panes? What will they come up with next?

Of course I’m perfectly content with my 70’s,80’s, & 90’s vintage Tamiya, Hasegawa, and Fujimi Zero kits…

Hmmm.... at least you don't have to mask the canopy frames.

Looks like a beauty. More slide molding too!

Yes, I think that is the whole idea. I am dubious, however, of how this is gonna work with the sliding portion of the canopy — might look a little odd in the open position.

It would be interesting to see how that would work. It does look like a great kit and the newer Fine Molds kits I've built have been great.

I've got the newer Tamiya kit, so my hold on this. But that Claude has my eye!

I have built the Ka-14 and the A5M4 Fine Molds kits and they were great.

I was thinking about that and their counter could be pre-applied canopy masks. More an more manufacturers are including canopy masks - not sure what it would take to get them applied but that would be pretty cool.
