I came across an interesting article about the history of Zinc Chromate. Check it out:

That article was originally published on the ipms Stockholm site. It is a great reference. Not only on zinc chromate but also on all the other interior colours use in us aircraft. I used it as a reference for my XP-47H build and decided to do the interior Bronze green, not Zinc Chromate becuase of this article.
