Sorry guys, but it seems with my last reply I killed the second page of the original thread. Annoying, that is.
But anyways, here's what I wrote:

I'm an aircraft builder in first place and I'm very much tempted by the big scale. When I came back to the hobby I played around with a bunch of kits in all kind of scales. When I made the decision that I want to step into that modeling thing on a higher level I had a vision of building a collection of model airplanes in one scale. I wanted them to be compareble to each other, because one thing that fascinates me about planes is their variability in size.
So I did a lot of research. Which scale has the most diversity and the most esoteric, fancy stuff? 1/72, for sure. Which scale offers the most potential in details and overall realizm? 1/32 and bigger, we know that. And then there's the scale that's, in my opinion, the compromise between the advantages of the before mentioned scales. So I started my first serious build and my collection in 1/48. Eight years since then and I'm perfectly okay with it. How I quench my thirst for bigger parts, more details? I switched to armor in 1/35 and try out new techniques on that field. It's a way that works for me but of course it hurts sometimes. Especially when I take a look at those WnW kits that are blinkin' at me like a styrene made Gal Gadot. But hey, I'm a tough guy -lol!

Bruce, to answer your flattering knocks on my wip-doors lately: I'm back on the bench after a summer of nearly no bench time at all and there will be updates

And I thoroughly agree upon your reasoning for standardizing aircraft in 1/48 and armor in 1/35. I made much the same decision 30 some odd years ago when I decided which way that my modeling hobby was going to go.

On a side note, this is happening more than once on the site lately where a reply locks up a thread. It never happened before the last “upgrade”. Although I did go back to 1/32 while in deployment since I knew that those builds would not be coming back with me, so display space was not a worry. And all I can say about the new 1/32 aircraft kits compared to the old ones of yesteryear is “wow”.

The 1/32 kits of 4 engine bombers are tempting but I'm afraid I'd have to add on to my house for building room and take out a loan to purchase the kit and all the paint. I doubt I could slip that by my wife. Also at my age I don't want to get into a long term project. I don't even take long naps for the same reason. The detailing on that Lancaster looks fantastic.

As this is now the second time, in pretty recent time, a thread "freezes"...

Is there any helpdesk / support from the service provider who could release the "constipation" for whatever locked the thread ?

Speaking as a typical 1/48 scale aircraft builder, who occasionally builds up a 1/32 piece, I can say it's really a display space issue. I love the 1/32 size, but would quickly run out of space to put them when they're done. I'm nearing the finish of a 1/24 Thunderbolt and can easily say it's way too clunky to work with- plus it's so heavy the wing joins don't seem strong enough. My biggest fear is trying to sit it on the provided gear...I'm praying it doesn't collapse!

Yup... On the first Lancaster thread, I can click on first page but when you want to go to second page? No luck. It keeps loading but doesn't takes you there.

Yep, I even tryed to reply to see what happens... but after roughly 5 minutes I got a Time-out error..
