Never been there. All those urban canyons are, somehow, frightening. Too many people there. Good that I live in the country!

I was there once as a boy in the 70’s. Once you got off the main streets like 5th Avenue, it had a very run down look in the areas that I remember. Not a place I’d really care to go back and see again. Aside from going to see the memorials at the old World Trade Center site, and perhaps the Intrepid, that’s it for me.

I live right across the river and I don’t go over much myself,way too much traffic.But I was really impressed with the upper east side,the area around the MetArt Museumdoesnt feel like Manhattan at all,really nice.

I’ve been to NYC numerous times on bus trips - Bronx Zoo (twice) Christmas show back in 2009(?), Ellis Island, Yankee Stadium (1 year anniversary of 9/11), last year to NY Museum of Natural History. Always fun to go when you go with a group of relatives.

And one memorable concert at Madison Square Garden for Bryan Adams Reckless Tour. My dad made me take my sister instead of a girl I worked with at JC Penny’s.

That's really cool! I'd like to visit there one of these days.

Carlos, you mentioned a site I would surley like to visit: the World Trade Center site. I was on hols at home with the TV running, when the news interrupted the TV program. I will never forget the things that happend the next hours. I surely would like to go there, and have a minute of silence and thoughts about the losses on life!

I was last there in 2007 when I joined my family at a family reunion. I took my wife who'd never been there. We toured the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. On Ellis Island they have computers set up to help you find relatives who came over and went through Ellis Island. We found one of my great-great-great grandfathers. It listed when he came over, what city he left, and even what ship he traveled on among other things! The next day, we all drove in and parked our cars at the Port Authority; and then bought subway passes to get around. We all went down to the Ground Zero/World Trade Center Memorial which was still a huge hole in the ground at that time. Afterward we walked up to Times Square taking in the sights. Our group split up then; one group (me and several family members) got on a subway and headed down to Yankee Stadium where we saw the Yankees beat the Blue Jays 6-2. It was the last year that the original Yankee Stadium was open and I ordered everything to enjoy during that game! Meanwhile the second group (my wife, brother Tom and his family and my other sister) walked around Central Park before making their way back to the Port Authority building.

Funny story about our trip on the subway....

We had all boarded to go see Ground Zero and were sitting in the subway car. All my nieces and nephews were all excited and thrilled. My sister Kathi smiled and said "Now everyone knows we're tourists!" I smiled and asked "Gee, why do you say that Kat?" and she replied, "Because we are the only ones excited about being on a New York subway!". Every New Yorker within hearing distance smiled, laughed and nodded their heads....

What a fantastic trip that was.
