Does anybody have any idea why the Hasegawa 1/48 F 22 Prototype is about $15 more expensive than their F 22 production model? They each have approx. 370 parts. I think my next build will be the 1/48 Hasegawa F 22(I have plenty of paint left over from my F 35A).

I have no actual idea of the reason. But. SWAG says that if the kit is a newer release, those usually come out with a higher sticker price. If it is older than production aircraft kit, I have no idea as to why it would cost more.

Hasegawa lists it as a limited production kit on their web site and apparently it has a bit of photo etch which may explain their justification for the higher cost. Photo etch can be a real pain to work with so I rekon I'll probably opt for the production fighter.

Limited Edition and PE sound like the culprits indeed...

That and they can't rebox it a dozen times with different decals.
