Same subject?

I was l reading a conversation between Rex and Duke the otherday, and the guys where discussing the counts of built models (I think Dukes was something like 1400!!!!! :shoutout: :shoutout: )

I got me to wondering how many of those are of the same subject. I know Rex builds a lot of the types in different markings, but I wondered how many of us actualy build a lot of the same same subject?

I myself have a goodly collection of Spitfires, although they're all different Marks (or scales), and a couple of early Hurricanes in Battle of Britain markings (and a third on the way), but what about you guys?

Do you go for the same subjects again and again - or is every build new?

Cheers!

I used to build something different all the time. But there now are a few duplicates in my stash and collection. These are the Me-163 Komet and the MiG-3. And I build a few themes like prototypes or Polikarpov's.
But I don't think I will ever reach 1000+ collection. I build about five models a year so those kind of numbers are far out of reach for me.

I am a 109 enthusiast.. Boring perhaps, but so it is.

Thats more or a less the only one i have several in my stash, all being mainly 1:48. Some few 1:72:s
Have been fan of the 109:s since I learned to know about it, must be when I was 7-8 years old. I got as birthday present Matchbox 109 E 1:72 kit. Fell in love immediately!

It was exactly this kit:

And since than, e.g since 1975/1976 this has and is my "Same subject". :-)

Almost everything I build is different, simply because there are so many different subjects that I want to build. However, that said there are several aircraft that I will build multiples of because of the markings or different versions, U.S. Navy aircraft for example, particularly A-4's, F-4's and F-14's. F-106's are another, I just like the -106 and there are plenty of cool markings for it (and I have got a lot of them  ). So, yeah, I guess most of my builds will be different most of the, with some multiples of some subjects here and there.

For me, the same subject will create an enormous amount of variations and possibilities until one day it is tapped out. So, maybe my choice is defined as more of a Klondike or gold strike with digging deeper and deeper in one subject until some limit is reached.

for me there is not one answer, love the differnt of planes, seldom kits, shortrun kits of exotic aircrafts. Nice to build a hole new plane with all the infestigation in the www.

But for some favorits, I build differnt versions, different kits of the same aircraft, different colors, different storys...

if you only build one F-4 Phantom, what will you choose??? of F-16, or Spitfire....that is the point

build what you like :dogwag:

As Stuart said, I build a lot of multiples of quite a few different aircraft types, now, anyway.

I used to be a build anything with a single prop sort of guy.

But, please don't think my theme of all of those squadrons is limiting me to just a few types. Sure, there will be ~80 Skyhawks,,,,but, there will 35 different aircraft types in the course of doing all of those squadrons. there will also be a lot of variants for some of the aircraft, as well. (for example, F-4A, F-4B, including all the B variations, F-4J, F-4N, F-4S, early thin wing RF-4B, later thick wing RF-4B, adding up to 12 different variants in just the Phantoms),,,,,,,even more variants of the Skyhawks, from TA-4A to OA-4M.

I have a few F/A-18's (6) of different versions. I have 3 A-10's as well. I do have another MV-22 Osprey in the stash to go with the completed one on the shelf.

I only built one Focke-Wulf 190 so far, but I have 12 more in my stash. It's my favourite plane and I want to build them all. From the early prototypes through the whole A-and D-series up to the in the last days of war produced Tank 152.

The Phantom and the Bf 109 are the only other planes that found their way more than one time in my stash (twice to be precise).

I have done multiple of same aircraft in the past due to different schemes or squadrons. Since I currently have a few AM decals, I see myself getting at least 4 different versions of F-16 kits. Keep in mind, not all F-16s are alike - just different modifications such as A,C,D, Block 15, 25, 30, 50, etc.. Well you get the picture.
