I'm looking to add an A1 Skyraider to my kit selection. I know many of you have built these, and this is one kit that I have yet attempted. Can any of you glueheads, give me your thoughts on the best kit for the money?

the best is the Tamiya, good details, easy to build, engrave lines, USAF and Navy kit available. It is the standard A-1, no AD-4 or AD-5..

Cherry is right: in 1/48 scale I also would go Tamiya.

I have all four different 1/48 kits in my stash: Tamiya, Monogram, Esci, and Matchbox. I have built the Monogram kit and it is very nice, the only real difference between it and the Tamiya kit being the raised vs recessed panel lines, and the underwing ordnance. And with the Revellogram kit you can make the wings folded with some minor surgery if you want that option. That kit has the inner wing facings in the wing fold area. The other two kits offer different widebody "greenhouse" canopy versions that are not as nicely detailed, but if you want a more complete AD collection you should consider them as well.

Thank you...Gents (and I use the term very loosely!)

I will be doing some looking today to see what I come up with.

To continue Jelliotts post ( not to hijack it, but to "refine it" :-) )
Any good recommendation for a great 1/72 scale Skyraider ?

The only one I know of is the ooooold Airfix kit. It's not the best kit in the world but can be made to look good with a bit of work.
Cheers

There is also the similar vintage Monogram kit of the widebody "greenhouse" version, I think it's an A-1E. It's the same quality as their other 1/72 kits of the time such as the F8F and P-51B.
