I am currently reading The White Rose of Stalingrad, a book about Lidiya Vladimirovna Litvyak, the highest scoring female Air Ace of Russia in WW2. I am looking for a decent kit in 1/48 scale of a Yak-1 so I can do as " White 02" and could not find any. I know Accurate Miniatures and Eduard has them but the Eduard edition is discontinued.
According to some review sites, it appears the Eduard Yak-1 kit is a rebox of the AM kit. My question is why is it hard to find Yak-1 version? Is it because the AM and Eduard kit has fit issues and accuracy issues?
Did Revell do a Yak-1 kit as well? I could have sworn I saw one somewhere a couple years ago.
However, the Eduard Yak-1b kit is an easy find since I can do since she did flew as "White 23".

The main obstacle is that Accurate Miniatures went out of business several years back. Some of their molds have been picked up by Italeri, but I do not recall seeing the Yaks being released by them so far. All I can suggest is to check kit collector shows & swap meets, plus the usual online sits that carry OOP kits, and be prepared to pay accordingly. I remember when those kits were everywhere and I have not seen that many built, so they gotta be somewhere...

Thanks Stik. I do recall seeing the Accurate Miniature Yak-1 Kit with skis awhile back at my LHS. I wonder if it would include the standard landing gears along with the skis.

Eh, I'm really not picky. A cool kit is a cool kit!

Nice theme for a build!
Sprue Brothers has the Eduard boxing in stock.
There are also some actual molds from the Ukrainian manufacturer
Modelsvit.
