Which re issues of older kits in recent years have put a smile on your face? What announcement of an upcoming re issue meant you no longer had to face the evil bay gougers and last second sniper bids?

Now Dragon is re-releasing it as Dragon #6608,same kit minus Magic Tracks and metal barrel

A new tool kit is never a bad thing, but sometimes the older hard to find kit is the only game in town...

For me there have been a handful, foremost being the Revell 1/48 Apollo Spacecraft. The one that comes with the Command Module, Service Module, Lunar Module, Adapter, and Escape Tower. Basicly the top 3rd of the Saturn V. As a kid my friend had one, and I thought it was one of the coolest models ever. I tried for years to get one off eBay, but there was one guy who literally had the market cornered. He won every auction of one up for sale, then turned around and offered them up at $100+ each. I don't know how many he sold at those prices, but I truly hope that the Revell re issue was a steel toe boot between the uprights to him.
There is a similar tale for the Italeri 1/35 M109 SPGs. But I was not so hard up for those as I had built one of those early on, so patience was a virtue.
And then there was the Revellogram 1:48 EA-6s, A & B. I never picked up either original release, but always wanted one of each. But nobody had the markets cornered on either kit. The recent re pops of both just made it real easy for me to get one for a fair price...
Finally there is the re pop by Revell of the hard nosed B-26 Invader. Purely personal for me, that was my dad's bird. I picked up the glass nose C model release, but missed the gun nosed B. Until the re pop

Stik, I guess I still have at least one or two hard nosed A-26s in my stash. But I am afraid that the postage to you would kill you...

Re-pops can be great, I've built a few of the Airfix reboxings - nice to have the new decals too.

One thing I have noticed though - is that unless the kit is mega hard to find, you're sometimes better off buying the orignal boxings, as the moulding are often in better condition. I've build a few old Frog kits and I find the bagged kits the best - better fit, not much flash etc.

Very true! And another good thing about re pops is that they can kick out the demand for those older kits online. so you can find the older release for prices that are now reasonable. I often don't use kit decals anyways so the decals are rarely an issue...

Yes, I bet the postage would be quite steep. Good thing that I bought the re pop

I like re pops of those really hard to find kits like Revells Boeing SST, the new cartograf decals where great plus. I do hope Airfix will do some of their older kits like the Saro Sr.53.
