That is exactly why I try to limit my trips to the Aviationmegastore to three of four times a year.

Aviation Megastore is a great shop, though pretty expensive also..
So yes, the wallet screams of emptiness after a visit there

Curious to know Tig how the shop was.
I am every now and then in Bochum/Dortmund and the shop is not that far away from there, 60 km or so.

They have a (two) yearly barnsale, which is great for finding kits at bargain prices. But besides that, yes, they can be quite expensive.

D'OH!!! Glad I checked it again before I went there. The Shop I meant is called "M&M Modellbau". But the link above relates to a shop in Westfalia called MM Modellbau (without "&") a few 100 km away. The M&M shop seems to be a regular toy shop with a regular stash. Maybe theyre selling M&M sweets also, who knows.



What difference a "&" makes.


But here comes plan B:

A week ago I visited my former home town and - of course - I had to have a look at that small hobby shop selling a small amount of rail models, Revell stuff and colors. Just for the "those-were-the-days-feeling".

Then my eyes popped almost out: Just 30m away theres an antique shop. And in the showcase there are old modelling treasures of the early 90ies - Airfix, Matchbox (!!!), old Tamiyas, Hasegawas, Revell of course and so on. Got already Italeris SR-71, even a huge model in 1/72.

So Ill visit THAT shop again today.

Good find for you,we just lost an old time top notch hobby shop near me.For the final weeks,he ran a buy one,get one free sale.I cleaned up with some nice kits.He will be missed.I do still have one left 10 minutes away though for now.

Oh I wish I had one just around the corner. But hey, you cant have everything.

And even more offerings. The Fairey Fulmar inside the box (see below) was a must have for me, I owned one when I was ten yo. Memories...





Next stop: Shop around the corner. Something was waiting there for me. Little funny episode - a father and his very young son passed by.

Son:
"Wow, that looks interesting! Lets go inside, they have models!"

Father:
"Naaah, they have only model trains!"

Me (thinking): "Oh, really?"




Result: 1/35 T-34 for 5 € off (15 instead of 20). YAY! Btw, the stash I got from the shop before cost 25 and included a "George", Fulmar, a Fury, a "Flitzer" and the P.1101!!!

Fair deal.


Next stop: Shop No. 3 in the middle of the trip to Chemnitz city. A small toy shop with some small treasures - like the "VERO"/Plasticard train model accessories. Plasticard was the only plastic model manufacturer in former GDR. I got some small umbrellas and garden stuff there (the umbrella should be perfect for the Vitorian lady Ill use for the T-80 Hover Tank dio).




And then - of course - the visit to my favourite hobby shop that keeps me modeling-busy since more than 10 years now. Its not only the interesting models he got, the owner is a vey good mate too. Every trip there is really worth the travel (and Im talking about ca. 100 km here because of my move to Leipzig city one year ago!).

Nuff said, here comes the stash!




1/72 civilians, even with a carriage!









PS: My car is now officially an "adult".
