I was just watching the Youtube video from Flory Models where he is reviewing the new Vallejo Acrylic Metal colors, and I have to say, based on his opinions and the results that he was able to achieve with quick tests, I am quite impressed. Granted, you are not going to get the nice depth that you will get from Alclad II; but, it looks as though for those who prefer acrylics over lacquers, there is no an option for a more realistic "metal-look". Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate anyone in the US that is stocking them as of yet; however, there are a couple of places in the UK that has them.
If anyone else has any thoughts on these products or has tried them, I'd love to hear more.

I bought yesterday 4 bottles of the new Vallejos Metal Colors,

- Burnt Iron
- Dull Aluminium
- Chrome
- Jet Exhaust

but have not had any time to test yet, weekend was too busy with everything else.
The thing I have tested so far, is how they smell.. And they don't practically smell anything at all!

Jim you are definitely on to something there, I noticed that he often sprays at a super-high, at least in my opinion, pressure. When he is testing the new Vallejo paints he was spraying them at 25 psi! That would high of a pressure would literally blow off any small PE or other parts if they were attached to something. I typically only look at his videos, as you've stated, as a look at new products. I too, generally go with Alclad when going for that natural metal look; however, I wont overlook a new product with potential. I'm interested to see what Kari thinks of them.

I've found that I can spray one brand of paint at a particular pressure and thin another paint brand to the same exact consistency and try to spray it at the same pressure and its horrible. I am by no means an airbrush expert, very novice in my opinion, but its like other things, you've got to work with it to find what works best for you, and in the case of air...more isn't always better. I personally like to spray between 12 and 15 psi, unless I'm using Alclad, then I will drop it even more, somewhere around 8 to 10. For me this works well, will it work for others? Maybe, maybe not.
The main thing I'm interested in with the Vallejo stuff is whether or not it works the same as their other paints and gets that rubbery feel to it.

All I know is that when they're available here, I'll be getting them!!

I will likely grab a couple of them myself to give them a shot. I'm not sure that they will ever compete entirely with Alclad, but having a back-up product can never be a bad thing.
