Wonderful image! Are you shooting RAW? My pro cameras are the Sony A7 series but I have deeply, deeply regretted selling my Fuji X-E4. I used both a Sony and Fuji on a Tiny Desk / NPR concert video and the Fuji was I think a bit better, so much so that I’m looking for a replacement!
Fuji on top, Sony on bottom. Two camera setup.
Also I realize you’re shooting with a new Nikon but you mentioned a Fuji XT as primary!

Thank you. Yes I shoot raw outdoors since the light is always changing. Yes, Fuji X-T3 is my primary camera; however, I use the Nikon for Sports & Wildlife because the Fuji autofocus system just can't keep up with fast moving things. I thought the Sony A7 series were supposed to be the low-light kings? Surprised the XE-4 could give it a run for the money. Would love to get one of those compact Fuji XE or X series, with the pancake lens, just to have in my pocket all the time.

The A7 has some strengths but the Fuji X series is simply one of the best digital cameras; the irony is that at least in the case of the X I owned the sensor was made by Sony…

Photography used to be a big part of my life, but not so much over the last few years. I've never really enjoyed shooting digital as much as I did film and I don't get on very well with the two DSLRs I have - a Canon 60D and 600D. I find I struggle with exposure a lot - both these cameras seem to be very contrasty and don't seem to have a lot of dynamic range. I don't recall the same problems with my old 40D.
Anyway, having spent the best part of the year sitting in their bag at the bottom of my cupboard, I've been playing around with them recently. For some reason all my images seem to wind up dark.

I'll tell you want I do miss, back in the pre-Covid days when I used to do a travel(ish) blog, I used to carry a Sigma 18-300mm zoom on my old Canon D40. That was a cracking bit of kit, really great walk-around lens for travelling. It was a shame when it ate itself.

That does not look too dark to me Stuart , not by much anyway. Are you post-processing your images or just using the JPEG straight out of the camera?

Ah well, that's the thing isn't it. No I generally use JPEGs Chris - I've shot RAW in the past, when I knew the lighting or similar was going to be an issue, but I generally use JPEGs. I don't think I actually have any RAW processing software at the moment.
Do you think RAW would help with the issues I'm having with the colour and WB?

It would certainly do that, Stuart. Check with your camera manufacturer, Pentax has RAW processing programs supplied with the camera and the same should be so for yours.
