Yellow is easy for me....Tamiya Flat Yellow with a touch of Flat Red through an airbrush. No issues regardless of what I spray it over. Try it.
Decompression builds? eh....6 to one half dozen to another. I build all my models pretty much the same way and add detail as necessary. I rarely if ever build with whats only in the box. I'm always adding seatbelts, tires, or at least aftermarket decals.
Jolly Rogers? Must agree. I might throw up if I see another Kepford Corsair. Thats why I did Boyington's ride last year. I do intend to do a VF-84 Tomcat someday though. Final Countdown is one of my favorite movies.
Preshading? I personally love it and still do it. I think its a matter of doing it in the right measure...Subtle. It works for me.
Stuff that annoys me:
* "AMS"- Accute...Accurate....Advance...or whatever you wanna call it syndrome.
* Future Floor wax on everything. It used to be great when I first started this hobby, back when puppies were the oldest animal, but somewhere along the line it changed into it's latest incarnation. The
* To tie into the above statement.....shiny glistening canopies dipped in Future on Warbirds. I don't believe plexiglass glistened in the 40's and should be war weary like the rest of your beatuifully weathered model. Hit them with a touch of Novus cleaner to get the oils from your fingers off and be don't with it.
* People who say "just sayin" after a statement. I know your saying it because you just said it......derrrrrr! This is not however modeling specific....
......and finally, yes I agree, Tamiya is not automatically the best. I think Hasegawa gives them a run for their money in alot of respects. For example, I much prefer Hasegawa's 1/48 scale Fw 190 A's over Tamiya's versions. I think Tamiya's Type 21 Zero is kind of a dog, but their newer Type 32 and 52 are breathtaking. Tamiya's P-47 is by far my favorite model kit though.
Oh my...how theraputic!......
