I only use Vallejo to set some colour spots. They are great for detail painting with a brush. Never had too much success in airbrushing them...

Without testing or personal experience ... I think the key is thinning. Most that I see on YT demos are thinning at least 50%.

I even managed to airbrush with their Model Color range. 70% self made thinner (distilled water, isopropyl alcohol and glycerine as retarder). Pigments are not as fine as from other brands, so surface comes out a bit rough. But as a base layer on a military model it's acceptable.

I recently had a "fight" with a rough surface on a small 1/35 scale kit, having used Alclad II´s Black Primer & Microfiller as a primer on the resin surfaces. I managed to sand it back on the open areas, but could not do so on tighter spots. Going to use UMP´s Stylnrez primer now: perfect stuff!

I don´t know: even using Vallejo´s own primer didn´t get the feel and finish I am used to from Tamiya or Gunze. I can order all kinds of paints here, so this is nothing to worry about.
