I like making models...and I like that other people make models and post pics so I can look at them.

I'm finding this a rather interesting discussion on so many levels, as a newcomer to this forum in particular, I have found it quite daunting to speak up in the past in another forum I'm a member of, possibly because of my lack of experience when it comes to modelling (7 years seems like a long time to me, but I know that some guys have been doing it for a lifetime!), I've also had to learn quite a lot of the terms associated with modelling, which also leads me to be more of a reader of forums than a contributor (apart from Group Builds, that of course is a totally different area! ) .

Because of this lack of experience and also the fact that I don't feel I am particularly creative off my own back so to speak (not when it comes to building things), I am currently a pretty much an OOB guy, I have got a few Eduard Profipack kits recently and the thought of building with the PE actually scares me a little bit, more for the fact that I don't want to mess it up and have to buy the kit again!

As far as the brush/spray argument goes, I am a brush painter for the simple fact that it's one of the things I enjoy doing the most when building my models, I can't wait to crack open a kit and start painting the camo on the wings while they are still on the sprues!

A hot-link would be kinda nice and all...just sayin, and shit...

Your tanks are brush painted? That's what I call skills, very impressive!
That's a wonderful example of how many ways can lead to a great model. Good to have you among us, Bubba!

Well, I've been "building for a lifetime" but I still only build OOB as well. It was about seven or eight years ago when I was where you are now: afraid to use P/E that was included in the box. I finally decided that I was never going to get the hang of it until I "just did it." So I did and gradually I've gotten a little better at it. You'll get there too someday and don't rush it. Find your own pace to learn and enjoy the trip a long the way. I'm a little bit more confident with P/E now; enough so that I'm doing two Russian armored trains that are about 40% photo-etch parts.

So, feel free to post all your work here your efforts will be most welcome. I for one will certainly want to see your work.

I gotta second Jim's statement about those sites/forums where the "in crowd" says that a kit has to be built, tricked out, and painted in a certain manner, or otherwise you're wasting your time and theirs. I am of the firm belief that there is more than one way to the proverbial "skin the cat". And I am always amazed by those who can think outside the norm and come up with some new result. It does not have to be part of "this" school, or "that" school to be a beautiful build. you're gonna find all of that here. And probably some schools that have yet to be invented...
