I also use the Klean Strip brand of lacquer thinner. I use it mainly for cleaning of my airbrush, but have used it as a thinner as well for MM enamels. I too, generally use the branded thinners. I do, on occasion, use 91% alcohol or Windex for clean-up of acrylic paints. If I am using Ammo of Mig products or Vallejo, I will use their branded thinners for their products.

I don't go "cheap" on anything really. I'd rather pay up the money to get the right or good stuff than have issues. I use whatever brands paint thinner for that paint.

With acrylics that is pretty much a necessity. With enamels, they seem to have far more compatibility amongst the different brands so a "universal" thinner is possible. I use the Testors Universal Enamel Airbrush Thinner, which used to be in a black Model Master can, but now is in a red Testors can. The stuff works the best for enamels, giving them a bit more "bite" to grip the plastic. But ironically it is not cheap. Thank goodness Hobby Lobby carries it and for their 40% off coupon.

I would not know, I have not used it for that. I am sticking with what I know that works for me. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and KISS (yes I do like the group too) are two rules I try to live by.

....I've been mixing MM enamels with the Testors thinner....and dump the unused paint mix back into the jar. There doesn't seem to be any negative effects in doing this.

Do you do the same with the paint/lacquer thinner mix?
