Since it is now December and I finished up my F-16, my tradition at the end of the year is to get one of two “Children of Doom” completed. I pulled this one out yesterday. It’s been sidelined for many years…
The first thing that I’m working on is a replacement vacuform canopy, which I cut out last night, then gave a dip in Future…. Should not be too difficult to get this one done before January 1st…

That's a good idea/tradition, Carlos! 
And that's a good choice too; that will look great displayed with a P-47. 
I have a four-tube 4' fluorescent light fixture in my study that's gone wonky. Now, it's too dark to really work in there. I'm going to replace it with a similarly sized LED fixture in a few days. When that returns sufficient light in there, I have the two WWII Russian birds that've been underway for nearly two years and hopefully, I can push them across the finish line, feeling just a bit of inspiration lately.

Gary, if you replace a fluorescent light with a similar size LED tube, you will definitely have much better lighting in your work area.
I hope to see those Russian fighter cross the finish line soon
Regarding a shelfmate or two for this one, I’m actually looking at a P-40 and P-26, as they all flew and fought together during their doomed stand in the Philippines.

Yep, I'm looking forward to more lighting there. The older I get, the dimmer it seems.
That group of planes would look great together! 
Someone over at iModeler recently did a group of the planes that flew at Pearl Harbor on the 7th; US and Japanese! That was nice too.

Yeah, I’ve got a few of those in the stash as well. Still have my Pearl Harbor P-36, but gave away my Pearl Harbor Zero to my great nephew, since he is a plane buff.

Happy Holidays to the Children of Doom! May their lives be competed now one by one! I have very little knowledge of this P-35A, but a quick glance at what's online revealed the sobering fact that these aircraft, once assigned, were wiped out by vastly superior Japanese Zeros. That fact to me is stunning and shocking and leads to the question: did any of the pilots survive?
Technically, this leads from Bendix prize winning racer prototypes to become something more. How it serves as a basis for a P-47 I will have to check out or if it's possible to understand how let me know. Ah! Wiki tells me that the company changed its name to Republic. Ah hah! That's the connection between them, then. Same company. First they develop the racers, then this, then the Lancer. Now I'm on firmer ground.
What an excellent project to end this year! Are there more photos??

That is a good selection for the final part of the year. I have actually been finishing a lot of Shelf Queens already once I reached my milestone, and the latest one will be posted soon. Stay tuned!
