That's an interesting question - you'd think that living in the UK I'd be all over old Airfix kits, but actually I rarely built them as a kid - the small village I grew up was pretty remote, and the only place to buy models was a small hardware shop, and they only sold Matchbox kits - those were my staple.

I did have Airfix kits for Christmas etc. My first kits were the old Hawker Typhoon and the Dornier Do17. I also have fond memories of their F-111 and F-105F kits in 1/72, and the 1/48 AH-64A - I never did finish that kit.

When I was 13 my family went to England to visit my grandparents for a month. I was getting into building pretty seriously at that point. I spent every penny I saved on model kits. Mostly Airfix and Matchbox. My favorite at that time was the Fw190 and the Spitfire. But I also picked up a bunch of helicopters. Puma, Lynx, Gazelle

Ahh yes, the F-111! I have the MPC boxing. Need to have a go at that one maybe next year..
