I believe the Albatros was the Red barons favorite fighter..

As a matter of fact, the Fokker Tri-plane was not.. The story goes like this.. Manfred von Richthofens nearest rival in terms of victories, Werner Voss used the Tri-plane succesfully. During a same period in September 1917, Voss had shot down 10 enemy fighters, while Richthofen "only" two.
So, Manfred thought, "if Werner can shoot down that many planes, it must mean the Tri-plane is better than the Albatros"..

And therfore he more or a less "forced" himself to fly the Tri-plane...

I was earlier this year on a "battlefield tour" following the last months of the Red Baron on the western front and the guide ( a historian of WW1 topics) could tell a lot of interesting details of the Red Baron.

Below few pictures...

The first picture shows is the precise field where Red Baron landed mortally wounded, second a memory plate describing what has happened on the spot and the third picture shows our guide telling the latest version of the story.

Kari, thank you so much for the insights. I have to walk on that path one day, too.

Torben, well now! It is almost, almost December, and I am so excited for your present and already looking forward to your documentation of the project here! This reminds me I have a brace of WnW Camels waiting for me—and I wanted to make 2019 the year of the Mustang, now I am thinking about those biplanes again!

Yup. Wingnut Wings and Eduard are also offering corrected instructions for download on their sites. If you buy a new kit of them I'd always recommend to check for the PDFs first before starting the build.
