Maybach HL 64 engine from the 8 ton semi-track. TU = Tiefer Unterteil ('deep lower part' i.e. wet sump), only fitted to some halftracks. The sump has an inverted triangle shape, bolted to the underneath of the crankcase housing.

Well I have a Rommel's Rod in the stash as well. I'd be building it OOB because I haven't got a spares box with parts that would fit; and I don't want to spend extra on additional parts.
As for the 1/72 scale stuff, yeah; they've got a load of great models. I have to say that I've already built about half of them though.

All great thoughts about building style—from Mustang, Stik and Duke! Personally I would build the Rod on a similar platform to Tamiya-Trumpeter’s 8-ton halfttack, with a super sexy diesel Maybach—it’s such a great concept because there is no one way/wrong way!
